De Grote Beer

Rotterdam, Netherlands

Tailored Mid-Rise Access with the First RX Common Tower Lite in the Netherlands

Project Overview
De Grote Beer is a 21-storey residential tower in Rotterdam, developed by Dura Vermeer. Reaching a height of 68 meters, the building features a 6-meter setback starting from level 7. This project marked the first deployment of the RX Common Tower Lite system in the Netherlands.

Customer: Dura Vermeer
Partner: ANC Platforms & Hoists
Segment: Mid-rise residential
Status: Completed

Challenge
The project required a vertical access solution that could adapt to the building’s changing shape due to the setback. The system needed to be modular, quick to install, and capable of bridging the hoists to the façade at multiple levels.

In addition to the technical challenge posed by the building’s setback, the project site offered very limited space for a traditional construction setup. This lack of available footprint demanded a compact, efficient vertical access solution that could adapt to the building’s changing shape.

RAXTAR Solution
RAXTAR delivered a customized RX Common Tower Lite system, paired with two RX SMART Series RXS2340 hoists equipped with c-gates. The tower’s modular design allowed for 6-meter run-offs to bridge the setback, ensuring safe and efficient access throughout the build. The system was installed using ergonomic tools and pin connections, minimizing installation time and complexity.

Outcome
The RX Common Tower Lite proved to be a perfect fit for mid-rise construction, offering flexibility, safety, and speed. The solution enabled uninterrupted progress on the façade and structure, while maintaining high safety standards and logistical efficiency.
