The First RX Common Tower in the Netherlands
Project Overview
Located at a prominent spot along the river Maas, Terraced Tower is a striking residential development that contributes significantly to the evolving skyline of Rotterdam. For the construction of this high-rise, RAXTAR introduced the first RX Common Tower in the Netherlands, offering an innovative solution for vertical transport of people and materials.
Customer: BESIX
Segment: High-rise residential
Status: Completed
Challenge
The project required a vertical access system that could deliver maximum transport capacity while occupying minimal footprint. In a dense urban setting with limited space for traditional scaffolding or access structures, the solution needed to be compact, safe, and adaptable to the building’s design.
RAXTAR Solution
RAXTAR deployed the RX Common Tower, designed to optimize vertical logistics with minimal space requirements. To further enhance safety and efficiency, the upper section of the tower was equipped with the RX Cocoon, a protective perimeter that:
Enables safe working conditions during installation and dismantling
Prevents falling objects
Allows hoists to remain operational while landings are being added, increasing uptime
This setup ensured continuous and secure access throughout the construction process.
Outcome
The RX Common Tower at Terraced Tower delivered:
↗ High-capacity vertical transport with minimal footprint
↗ Increased uptime during critical construction phases
↗ Enhanced safety through the RX Cocoon system
