Expert Series Hoisting for the World’s Narrowest Supertall Skyscraper
Project Overview
Located at the intersection of 57th Street and Park Avenue in Midtown Manhattan, 432 Park Avenue is one of the most iconic residential skyscrapers in the world. With a height of 425.5 meters (1,396 feet), it is the sixth-tallest building in the United States and the third-tallest residential building globally. The tower, designed by Rafael Viñoly Architects, features 85 floors and is renowned for its slender proportions, fifteen times taller than it is wide, making it the narrowest skyscraper in the world at this height.
Customer: Brand Safeway
Segment: Supertall residential
Status: Completed (2015)
Challenge
Constructing a supertall residential tower with such a narrow footprint posed unique engineering and logistical challenges. Efficient vertical transport was essential to support the movement of personnel and materials across 85 floors, while maintaining safety and minimizing downtime throughout the multi-year construction process.
RAXTAR Solution
RAXTAR supplied a dual-car RX3245SF hoist, part of the Expert Series, capable of traveling the full height of the building. This high-performance hoisting system was selected for its:
Robust design for extreme height
High payload capacity and speed
Advanced RX Control System for safe and efficient operation
The RX3245SF hoist ensured reliable vertical access throughout the construction of this landmark tower.
Outcome
The RX3245SF Expert Series hoist contributed to the successful delivery of 432 Park Avenue by:
